The doctor is In.

I sorta like old Chinese herbal shops -- they smell weird as hell, but also have a ton of neat shit hanging around. XD I put this up coz I liked the composition... er, just not enough to flesh it out all nice or anything.

Anyway, the character's name is Dr.Lau. I don't know what the Chinese character in the background is, but I sure as hell know what the words in front are. XD

<3 I never commented on this piece, did I? I like it. It certainly captures the musty atmosphere I associate with Chinese drugstores, and does a good job of inspiring the mood regardless of the fact that I've never been in one.

Very cool piece, nice amber sodium-vapor-ish lighting going on there, it's subtle and creates a nice mood. I also love the loose sketchy feel it has, really dig this look.

Hey, I know this guy! :D

I like this picture. The flatness adds that old detective movie flavor to it, I think. Like he's the Chinese doctor who just won't help the detective.

"I am sorry, detective," said Dr. Lau, his face passive yet stern. "I refuse to help you find him." Meaning his brother because his brother killed someone.

Or something.

It's awesome!

well, I've never been to a Chinese herbal shop myself but I love the idea of one. gets the imagination churning, you know! so I really love the angle and atmosphere in this piece. awesome.

it's quite annoying how the background is carefully erm...suggested, the atmosphere is right, but the character is just flat and unfinished. you should highlight him just a little to look more 3D-ish... pweeeease? :D because the pic has such a nice mood. it would be a pity to leave it unfinished.

whichever works for you! ^_^ altough i like quick, sketchy works a lot. i just commented on this one because it was just... one little step away from satisfactory. but yeah, as long as you submit, i'm happy :D

Lighting effects + dynamic composition + tangible setting + interesting character = win.
